Goats

Goats are the most interesting animals!   They love to eat and eat and eat!  They eat hay, like in this picture.

But, they will also eat your clothes, your shoe laces, your garden plants, flowers, and other things that other animals just wouldn't think of doing!

Farmers raise goats for the milk they produce.   It is a rich and healthy milk, and some people who have allergies to cow's milk, are able to drink goat milk! 

We also get wonderful cheese from goat milk.  Have you heard of feta cheese?  That is made from goat milk.  Some day, you might want to do some research and see what kind of milk is used for the cheese in your house or your store!

The male is a billy goat, the female is a nanny goat, and the baby is a kid!  Can you tell which one is the old billy goat here?

It is hard to scratch those itchy, tickly places when you don't have any hands!  These little kids are learning how to scratch with their little hooves.
