Story Ideas

Once you know the story, Bibi and the Bull, you can write other Bibi stories too.

  1. You are beginning to know the character, Bibi.  She is an independent little girl who likes to solve her own problems. She loves her family and being on the farm with her Grandpa. She lives in Alberta.

  2. Where else do you think Bibi could be for a story, besides a farm?  Where do you like to go in Alberta?  The lake? The mountains? Camping? Brownie camp? The mall? School? Ranch?  Pick a place for her to go.

  3. Most stories have a problem to solve.  What kind of problems could Bibi have?  Getting lost?  Getting hurt? Scary weather? Doing something scary?  Wanting something?  Think of one problem for her.

  4. The fun part about writing is to think of original or funny ways to solve problems.  Most of us do ordinary things, but your character can do extraordinary things that make your story interesting.   Think of an ordinary way for Bibi to solve that problem. Now use your imagination and think of an extraordinary way for Bibi to solve that problem.  Which way do you like better?

  5. Another way to make a story for Bibi, is to put her into another story that you already know.  Think about the Three Little Pigs.  Maybe you could make a story that changes the Three Pigs into Bibi and 2 of her friends...  Or maybe Bibi could be the scary character instead of the wolf... There are lots of ways to use Old Favourite Stories with new characters.  Each new way of writing an Old Favourite is called a New Version.

  6. Pretend Bibi lived in your family.  What would she do if she lived in your house?

  7. Pretend Bibi was an animal.   What animal would she be?  What adventures could she have?

If you would like to write a Bibi story and send it to me by email, I will write back to you.
